Why a grand piano is different
A grand piano is not a large upright. It is taken apart before it is moved.
Between 260 and over 550 kilograms, on three thin legs, with a pedal lyre that is only screwed on. That is why every grand piano transport begins with a spanner and not with a trolley.

Always. Not only when the door gets narrow. After that the grand piano is a body — and a body can be carried safely.

The body is packed and laid on the skid. The trolley is used only on level ground — up to the staircase or out of the room.

Up the stairs it is carried
On straps, step by step. Within Vienna it is therefore the staircase that sets the price, not the distance.
At the delivery address everything runs in reverse order — set up the body, the legs, the lyre, fine adjustment.
Tuning follows 14 days later at the earliest, once the instrument has got used to the room.

On a spiral staircase the grand piano is realigned at every step. Nothing is rolled here. This is not an exception — in Viennese period buildings it is everyday work.

How long does a grand piano transport in Vienna take?
In Vienna we reckon with 2 to 4 hours, from the packing in the flat to the setting up in the new place. How much of that goes on the way out is decided by the stairwell, not by the distance.
What does a grand piano transport in Vienna cost?
The fixed price starts at 480 € incl. VAT. Within Vienna no kilometres are charged, the cost is set by the way out. The price applies on the ground floor as well. For each floor over a straight staircase 60 € incl. VAT is added, and the floors of both addresses are counted together. A spiral staircase replaces that amount with 100 € incl. VAT per floor. After your photos we name the exact cost as a fixed price within 60 minutes.
When do I get the fixed price?
With complete details, both addresses, floors, lift, photos of the instrument and of the stairwell, you receive the fixed price within 60 minutes. You can reach us Mon–Fri from 8am to 6pm.
Do you get in touch before you arrive?
Yes. We call 30 minutes before we arrive, time enough to clear the way and to prepare the parking space or the lift.
When may the grand piano be tuned?
Give the instrument at least 14 days. It has to get used to the temperature and the humidity of the new room, a tuning before that will not hold. After that we tune in Vienna for 228 € gross.
Is the grand piano insured during the transport?
Please raise the question with us. We check what insurance cover is possible for your instrument. For upright pianos there is liability cover up to 5.000 €. For grand pianos there is no comparable product on the market; what that means in your case we discuss openly with you.
