What is my piano worth?
The value of a piano depends on the brand, the year of manufacture, the condition of the action, the sound and the external condition. Instruments by Yamaha, Kawai, Bechstein, Bösendorfer or Steinway hold their value best. A playable piano with a well kept action is worth considerably more than an out of tune instrument showing wear.
The age matters too: pianos from the last 30 years are as a rule more sought after than older models. Japanese brands such as Yamaha and Kawai are particularly stable on the second hand market, European brands such as Bechstein or Bösendorfer reach higher prices but are harder to sell.
