In a practice room, a grand piano is played from morning to night. It travels from the teaching room to the hall and back again, and before every exam it has to be in tune once more. Every hour in which it is missing or out of tune is an hour missing from someone’s practice.
That is why, with a university, we do not think in single jobs but in the rhythm of your academic year: exams, auditions, concerts, and the time in between, when buildings are renovated or departments move.
An instrument at a university never belongs to just one person. It belongs to everyone who learns on it.
